Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHRTM) dues collected by HRMA allow us to fulfill the mandate of administering the CPHRTM in BC and the Yukon, and our commitment to offering a high standard of service. A part of the dues covers governance, staffing, supplies and the development of new CPHRTM marketing and promotional material. The remainder of the fees allows HRMA to work in conjunction with CPHR Canada to maintain the standards and continuously raise the profile of CPHRTM at both the provincial and national level. One hundred per cent of professional dues collected by HRMA are reinvested in the CPHRTM designation. Professional dues are $155 plus tax annually, in addition to your membership dues.
Continuing Professional Development Standard
CPHRTM holders are required to report their professional development activities on an annual basis. As per the Continuing Professional Development Standard, all CPHRTM holders must report by January 31st of the following year. Find out more about CPD reporting.
All CPHRTM members are subject to an audit on an annual basis which is carried out by the Audit Committee up to twice a year. Selection for audit is random based on CPHRTM ID numbers. If audited, the CPHRTM member must provide supporting documents for their CPD activities to the committee within 30 days. The audit process will verify the appropriateness, suitability and adequacy of the professional development activities listed in the provided documents. Find out more about CPD Audits.
Code of Ethics
CPHRTM holders commit themselves to high standards of ethical behaviour.
On January 29th, 2016, HRMA’s Board of Directors ratified the new Code of Ethics & Rules of Professional Conduct which will replace the existing reliance on the national CPHR Canada Code below effective January 2016. As such, the provisions of the new Code of Ethics & Rules of Professional Conduct shall be implemented by May 17th, 2016.
All CPHRTM holders are held to the CPHR Canada National Code of Ethics which cover a range of important professional issues including confidentiality, conflict of interest, professional growth and more. The Code of Ethics demands the highest standards for the HR profession.
Leave of Absence
A professional member who is granted parental or disability leave from their place of employment may apply for suspended membership and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) extensions. Professional members retiring may apply for retired member status. Find out more about leaves of absence.
Transfer from/to Another Province
To maintain your CPHRTM designation you must maintain membership in HRMA or the association responsible for CPHRTM certification in the province where you reside. When a professional member of HRMA moves to another province, they are required to transfer their membership to the association of the new province of residence.
